I can no longer see or add any printers after I upgraded from Mac OS X 10.5.x to Mac OS X 10.6.x Snow Leopard on my Intel-based Mac. How can I add my Epson printer?

You will need to install Printer Support as Apple Corp. have made this software an optional install on the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Install DVD. We also recommend that you install Rosetta from the Optional Installs folder, as this may be required to use your printer software in Snow Leopard if drivers are not currently available on our website.

  1. Insert the Apple OS X 10.6 DVD into your Macintosh.
  2. Open the Optional Installs folder.

  3. Double-click Optional Installs.mpkg.

  4. The Installer appears. Click Continue.

  5. Click Continue to the Software License Agreement.

  6. Check only the Printer Support box, then click on the arrow and check only the Epson box. You may also want to check the Rosetta box. Then click Continue.

  7. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the software and click Agree if you see a prompt to accept the Software License Agreement.
  8. Click Close when you see the screen below.

Run Software Update from the Apple menu, then disconnect and reconnect your printer and it should appear in the Print & Fax list.

Before you attempt to install any Epson software or add your Epson printer, you should first check how your product is supported in Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard includes drivers for many Epson printer and scanner models and these drivers can be used with your Epson product until we provide updated drivers. Other products require specific drivers which will be made available for download from the Epson support website.

We recommend that you periodically check our support article 'Epson and Snow Leopard - Mac OS X 10.6' for updates in order to obtain the latest software and utilities for your Epson product as they may be needed for this new operating system.
